Rumparooz Newborn Cover in Poppy: Fit and Wash Care

One cover, three rise settings, 4 to 15 pounds

The Rumparooz Newborn Cloth Diaper Cover in Poppy is built to span the preemie and newborn stage with three adjustable rise settings. Kanga Care lists a weight range starting at 4 pounds and fitting up to approximately 15 pounds. That range is the first checkpoint: if your baby is outside it, the cover is not the intended fit.

The cover is generously sized to go over most newborn fitted or prefold diapers. It is a cover, not an absorbent diaper on its own, so pair it with the flat, prefold, or fitted diaper you already plan to use underneath.

How to put the Poppy cover on

Use these steps in order each time you change a diaper.

1. Set the rise before fastening: Snap the diaper rise to the proper size setting for your baby. The three rise settings are what let one cover move through the 4 to 15 pound range.
2. Add the absorbent layer: Place a flat, pre-fold, or fitted diaper on your baby first. The cover goes over it.
3. Fasten the cover over the diaper: Fasten the cover to your baby over the flat, pre-fold, or fitted diaper. Poppy is available with either SNAP or APLIX closure, so choose the closure style that matches how you prefer to fasten.
4. Reuse between washes only if clean: Covers may be used multiple times before washing, but place the cover into the laundry if it becomes soiled.

The first wash before Poppy touches your baby

Kanga Care's instruction is simple: before first use, wash diapers once. Do that before the first fitting so the cover is clean and ready.

The cover uses a water-resistant polyester TPU, described by Kanga Care as a solvent-free polyester fabric laminated with thermoplastic polyurethane using a heat bonding process rather than chemicals. That construction is why the care routine stays simple and why harsh laundry additives are the main thing to avoid.

A wash routine for Rumparooz covers

Kanga Care frames diaper care as just another load. Follow the sequence below and use the recommended amount of detergent for your load size.

1. 1. Cold rinse: Start with a cold rinse.
2. 2. Hot wash: Add the recommended amount of detergent for the appropriate load size and run a hot wash.
3. 3. Cool rinse: Follow with a cool rinse.
4. 4. Dry: Tumble dry low or lay flat to dry in indirect sunlight.

Laundry additives to leave out

Kanga Care asks customers not to use laundry additives such as bleach, Oxiclean, Borax, or Bac-out on Kanga Care products. The company notes that these can negatively affect cloth diapers and accessories. For detergent, Kanga Care points readers to its list of recommended detergents that have been tested and meet the requirements for effectively cleaning human waste.

• Bleach: Listed among additives Kanga Care says not to use on its products.
• Oxiclean: Also listed as an additive to avoid.
• Borax: Included in the same do-not-use list.
• Bac-out: Named alongside the other additives to leave out.

Choosing SNAP or APLIX for your newborn

Poppy comes in two closure styles, SNAP and APLIX. The supplied record confirms the closure options but does not compare their performance, so the choice comes down to which fastening style you prefer to use during frequent newborn changes. Whichever you pick, the fit range and rise settings are the same.
